Giveaway Alert! The Color Run :D Woot!!

So the Color Run contacted me and generously offered 2 tickets for me to giveaway.  I am so excited about this and so should you!

I love The Color Run.  Love!

The Color Run™, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.  It's less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using more colored powder to create happiness and lasting memories, not to mention millions of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5k party on the planet!

They only have two rules, the idea is easy to follow: Wear white at the starting line and finish plastered in color!

Have you ever done The Color Run?  If not here is your chance to win 1 of 2 tickets I have to giveaway!  This giveaway is only good if your location isn't sold out.  To check and see if the location nearest you isn't sold out visit

My plan for this week!

This past week has been a very very busy time on my page.  For some reason I gained over 13,000 new people over there.  Yeah, that wasn't a typo. Someone mentioned that they saw me as a sponsored ad on their newsfeed but I don't believe in paying to promote a page that I make no profit from.  I know I sound like I'm complaining.  I'm not, it just has me at a loss on what Facebook is doing.  Hopefully they won't expect me to pay for something I didn't buy lol

How ever you got here....welcome!!

Ok so now the fun stuff.....

My meals for the week:
Breakfasts - egg muffins (recipe can be found here or egg omelet

Pre long run workout - My favorite Strawberry Banana Smoothie ( or I take out the banana and add in 2 tbsp of low fat cream cheese to make a strawberry cheesecake smoothie

Lunch - I bought Cajun Turkey from the deli this week so either I'll have wraps or fold it's with that meat, a laughing cow cheese wedge and lots of veggies

Snacks - yogurt, air popped popcorn, cheese sticks, sliced cucumbers or zucchini with ranch, bananas, pluots

Dinner - Last night we had Chicken Marsala from  We have Smoked Sausage and Vegetable medley with garlic mashed potatoes for tonight (from emeals), Santa Fe Chicken Pie (emeals) with a salad, Crockpot Chicken Enchilada Soup (from skinnytaste), Chicken, Mushroom, and Brown Rice Slow Cooker Casserole (from weightwatchers), baked salmon with asparagus and quinoa, Crockpot beef roast with veggies and brown rice

My exercise is scheduled in too....Yesterday it was a 6 mile run, Monday weights at the gym, Tuesday 8 mile run and Zumba, Wednesday weight day, Thursday 8-9 mile run, Friday off, Saturday 5k charity run, Sunday off.

Oh!  I'm also sponsoring another Dietbet that will be starting on my birthday, October 4th!  Basically you buy into the pot, which is $20, and who ever wins at the end of the month by losing 4% of your body weight gets to split the money.  Yes they have measures in place to keep people from cheating.  The link to the game is

A fabulous slow cooker meal that’s easy enough for a casual weeknight meal and tasty enough for a weekend gathering.

  • Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; warm over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and brown, turning once, about 6 minutes; set aside.
  • Combine the remaining ingredients in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker; nestle the chicken thighs in the mixture. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours. Yields 1 chicken thigh and about 2/3 cup rice-vegetable mixture per serving.

Comparison is the thief of joy, for realz

Are you constantly looking at other people and instead of being happy for them, you get jealous & want to beat them at a competition that is only in your head?

We all see that green-eyed monster at some point.  It's how you handle it that can either make or break you.

Ok so now that I said that.....
I love the support I get from all of you and
love to cheer you all on as much as I can.

Want to know what I started out with?

I started out with 5 minutes.

5 hellish minutes of exercise a day.

I didn't jump into Insanity (I've yet to do it too lol) and I didn't go from zero to hours of exercise in the attempt to "keep up with the Joneses of the weight loss world".

5 freakishly long minutes.  I thought those 5 minutes was going to kill me.

Did I get jealous when I saw people doing more?  You bet I did.  I had to learn to put blinders on and worry about what I was doing.  Hard?  Yes indeed!  Do able?  Of course....with a little bit of work.

What am I trying to get at?

Comparison is the thief of your joy.  Know your limits & aim for them.  Instead of being hard on yourself because you only did "X" today twist that around!

You are a freaking ROCKSTAR because you did "X" today!

Are you going to let comparison steal your joy?

My BIG secret to changing my lifestyle!

Everyone has asked me what my secret is for losing the weight & being able to get back to a healthy lifestyle after falling off.  I'll tell you :) Shhhhh.  It's a secret.

I'm not getting sidetracked lol So someone told me that I'm selfish because I put myself first in a message on my Facebook page not too long ago.

You know what?

This person is absolutely right.  I am selfish.  This is my secret.  This is how I've been able to lose the weight.

I'm not Super Woman...I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend & community volunteer.  All which makes me feel like I do have to dust my cape off sometimes.

It took me a very long time but I gave myself permission to put myself first.  That was very hard to do.  I felt so guilty doing something for myself because there was always something I could be doing for someone else.

I had to literally make myself go out on my own & spend time with me.  The amount of guilt made me cry.

Soon enough if you keep doing it, it will get easier & you'll be asking yourself "Why did it take me so long to start doing this??!!  I love taking care of me!!"

Don't get me wrong, I don't ignore my responsibilities & I know the world doesn't revolve around me.  I also understand that when it comes down to it, no one is going to take care of me like me.  No one is going to exercise or eat healthy for me.  People can love & care for me but not like I can do it.  My family & friends show their love & respect by supporting me like I do them.

I will not be a martyr, I will not sacrifice my well being for the entire world.  I do, however, want to make a difference in other people's lives.  I care about others. I want to see others happy.  I'm a people pleaser by nature.

I just keep myself on my priority list.  I tell people no, when I want to help....but if it stretches me too thin it really hurts everyone in the long run.

It's part of loving yourself.  It doesn't mean you can't love others & care for just means to take care of yourself, physically & mentally first.

That's my big secret to my weight loss ;)

September Challenge: Let's Plank!

Why do just planks?  Check this out here :)

They work out a heck of a lot of muscles.  See the muscles in red...that's what you are working in this one move.  Cool huh?

Ok so this is the challenge:

(I'm apologizing now if the pictures are blurry.  My husband accidentally cut our U-Verse line and well we have no Internet except on my phone until whenever they can show up to fix it)

You know I wouldn't leave you hanging if you need modifications.

First is the right way to plank:

Tip on how to to one:

The only equipment that you need for the plank exercise is your own body and enough floor space to lie down on.

In a push-up motion, raise your body off the floor, supporting your weight on your forearms and your toes (Rest your body on your forearms with your palms flat on the floor). You should have a straight line from your feet to your head. For comfort, you can rotate your elbows to a 45 degree angle and clasp your palms together in the center. Make sure that your back is flat and your head, neck and spine are in a straight line.

Keep your abdominal muscles engaged and do not let your stomach drop or allow for your hips to rise up. To avoid letting your hips or butt rise up, tilt your pelvis towards the floor. Remember to breathe. This applies to all planks.

Next is a plank on your knees:

And finally on the wall if you have bad knees:

This challenge is perfect for beginners!  If you are more experienced and this isn't a challenge for you, go ahead and double the time or switch to side planks or pick up a leg & hold.

Are you in?!  Let's get it!!
