From Fat to Fit Chick: : March 2013

It's less about what you eat but why....,

It’s less about what you eat, and more about why you ate it.

A food journal isn’t just some lame way to record your daily intake, it’s also a place to track your feelings toward food: Did I eat that entire pizza because I was pissed off that I saw my ex with his new girlfriend, but after I ate it I felt even worse about myself?

Writing down your depression/anxiety/celebration/whatever- induced food foibles and feats forces you to fess up to yourself, facing the facts of your food issues, and illuminating what drove you to inhale a dozen chocolate chip cookies last night, when the night before you felt fulfilled after just one.

Food & Mood Journal Components:
a. So… What happened?- (ran into my ex with new fling at a bar)
b. Your post-incident response- (balled my eyes out over a box of ready bake cookies- before even baking them!)
c. Post-response response- (felt fat and out of control…balled my eyes out again)
d. Rewrite a better “b” for next “a”- (went for a run to make my ass look better than that chick’s)

Hope this helps!

A very short menu & ramblings

I am so excited to be going back to Las Vegas on Wednesday! I have a whole list of what I want to do & if anyone wants to meet up with me over there let me know!

As far as my weight loss is concerned....I've been happily maintaining & if I lose more then great and if I don't then great lol

I have the Crescent City Classic and my first triathlon coming up. The training for those come first before losing anymore.

Ideally I'd like to get down to 145 pounds one day :) One day!

So my dinner menu for the two days I'll be home......

Monday: Shrimp & Grits from Bobby Deen's newest recipe, sorry gang but I paid for the cookbook & wouldn't feel right posting the recipe.

Tuesday: Lasagna (I'll post my recipe before I's a lightened up version of a Southern Living at home recipe that I adjusted myself)

Meet Anabelle

Your name & age?
Anabelle 34
What made you decide to change?
I hit a weight of 252 lbs and I could barely climb a flight of stairs. I
had a young daughter whom I could barely keep up with. I was depressed
and self-conscience about my body to the point where I hated going out
in public.
How did you do it?
It started with the couch to 5k program and I just took off running! I
wound up running 2 half marathons and most recently in September a
full! I also did various weight loss plans like weight watchers, low
carb, calorie tracking etc etc.. but mostly recently I've become a clean
eater and I'll never go back to anything else.
What was your biggest challenge?
I am a sugar and carb addict. I have to be really careful to avoid
trigger foods or it could induce a binge of biblical proportions!
What is your biggest piece of advice to someone who is just starting?
Just put one foot in front of the other. Weight loss doesn't happen over
night. You need to commit yourself to changing your entire outlook on
food and your fitness life. This is a life time change, not something
you do until the weight is off. That being said... eat right, workout
and the weight will take care of itself.
Do you have a fan page or blog?!/AnabellesCleanEatingAndFitness

It's here!! My Cover & Story in Woman's World Magazine!

It's been a very long wait but it's finally here!!

I was tipped off by a friend that our local Books-A-Million had the magazine.  So what did I do?

I looked up the time they closed and after chewing my lip for a little bit over trying to decide if I should wake my kids up or not, I decided what the hell?  Wake them up!

Of course I had to call my best friend for moral support since my husband is in Virginia so the additional hour ahead plus and an early wake time for him made me not call him.  When I got to BAM I looked all over in a frenzy lol

OMG, where was it?

I finally spotted it and screamed like my daughter would if she would ever meet Justin Beiber.

My poor best friend's ear!

When I got to the check out line I was still acting like a goober & squealed some more to the cashier about that being me.

Just wait until I see it in stores like Walmart haha!

There are things I'm not thrilled about it like the photoshopped to hell picture and sensationalized story (if you want the real boring story look under the tab here "Meet Tanee") and no mention of my blog or fan page but I figure if people want to find me they will Google me.  My name is so unique that they'll find me fast lol

It gets me out there though and that is all I wanted.  Some have kinda hinted around that I am a sell-out and maybe I did BUT it was my goal to get my story out there to help as many people as I can.

I'm going to enjoy my 15 minutes of fame y'all :)

PS if you want the real recipe for my gumbo I'll be posting it on here as soon as I can lol

My Weekly Menu! Let's try this again

So I wrote up my whole blog and all the while I ignored the warnings that said things were not being saved....then POOF!  My browser shut down and it was gone.

So here I am starting over and it's not going to be the same lol  It never is when I have to start over.

My husband is out of town (again) so the theme this week is easy and healthy!

Breakfast - 1 egg, 3 egg white scrambled with shredded cheese, greek yogurt and 2 slices of turkey bacon*Alright let me tell you about this turkey's kind of like turkey "ham" and not the typical chewy ass cardboard stuff I usually get lol  I buy it from Sam's.  Back to my menu ;)*
Lunch- Tuna out of the can and a salad....I was cleaning up some of the glass out of my Jeep, my husband broke the window while cutting grass.
Dinner - Breakfast!  1 egg, 3 egg white spinach scrambled eggs, 2 slices of the amazing turkey bacon and a cup of strawberries
Snacks - a cheese stick, grapes, a small romaine salad, and a skinny cow ice cream sandwich

That was a fly by the seat of my pants day lol It could have been worse.

Now on to the planned stuff.

Breakfast - Baked egg cup with a greek yogurt
Lunch - Salad from Rouses while I wait for the Jeep's back window to be replaced
Dinner - Tacos...with ground turkey, low carb soft small tortillas, romaine lettuce, salsa, shredded cheese, sour cream :)

Breakfast - Same thing as oldest has a doctors appointment in Mandeville so we'll be hustling once I drop the other two off at school lol
Lunch - Salad from The Salad Station since I won't be home again
Dinner - Slow Cooker Pulled Pork (I can smell it now!) with steamed green beans

Breakfast - spinach and egg scramble and turkey bacon/ham with strawberries
Lunch - Left over taco stuff....might make an awesome salad!
Dinner - Italian Sausage and White Bean Stew
Recipe for that:
12 oz Italian chicken sausage, 4 links
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon pepper
14 oz can diced tomatoes
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
3 whole carrots, peeled & chopped
15 oz can great northern white beans, drained
14 oz can FF chicken broth

Slice sausages on the diagonal into ½ inch
slices. In a large sprayed stockpot on medium
high, cook sausage & garlic until browned. Stir
in the remaining ingredients; bring to boil.
Cover, reduce heat, simmer 10 - 15 minutes or
until carrots are tender. Add small amounts of
water if needed.

Snacks - pretty much the same combo that I've been typing :)

Breakfast - egg omelet with cheese and salsa...yum!
Lunch - Left over pulled pork and a side salad
Dinner - Left overs (sorry lol)

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs and greek yogurt
Lunch - maybe more left overs, if not then maybe a baked chicken breast and salad
Dinner -  Hearty Beef Stew
Recipe for stew
1 ½ lbs top London broil steak, dice into tips
1 med chopped onion
(1 T oil, ½ t salt, ½ t pepper, ¼ t garlic powder)
14 oz can FF beef broth
1 pkg brown onion gravy dry mix
1/2 lb carrots, peeled & sliced
1 ½ c sliced mushrooms
1/2 lb zucchini, sliced

Heat oil in large saucepan over med heat. Brown steak tips with onion, salt, pepper and garlic powder then combine with broth & gravy mix in crock-pot. Cook on low for 6 hours. Add carrots & mushrooms the last hour of cooking.

Snacks for the week - sliced cucumbers, small salad, grapes, wedge of laughing cow cheese spread on 3 crisp n light wasa crackers, cheese sticks, bananas, maybe skinny cow ice cream lol
